Poems for Vanessa

Cath Barton sent this poem with her letter to Ness, saying

I found this poem when I was looking for photos. I think it was written for Ness.

Waterfall

I like to turn the world
Inside out
Blow the dust from the old ways
Reach an arm
Into the unseen

The soft chant of reality
Slips easily down the throat
"Listen, listen,
This is how it is,
There is no other way"

But in my dreams
I touch the unexpected:
A mouth cracks open into a smile
Ripples roll outwards
And anything is possible

If I speak
Will you unfold your hurt?
Will you let go of the hard pebble of now?

I have an idea.

I have a waterfall
Of imagination:
Everything is possible.
